That&#8217;s gotta be a first for me since like I was three years old. Like since my parents started dressing us in our jammies to take us to the drive-in in the big old Buick station wagon.<\/p>\n<p>Dawn and I watched\u00a0thirty movies on DVD. Well, we finished twenty-eight of them. <em>Crash<\/em> and <em>Napoleon Dynamite<\/em> sucked so bad that we couldn&#8217;t finish them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Quiet on the Western Front<\/li>\n<li>Love Me If You Dare<\/li>\n<li>The General<\/li>\n<li>Oscar and Lucinda<\/li>\n<li>Office Space<\/li>\n<li>Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightley version)<\/li>\n<li>Good Night, and Good Luck<\/li>\n<li>Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil<\/li>\n<li>Crash<\/li>\n<li>Ju Dou<\/li>\n<li>Vanity Fair<\/li>\n<li>Raise the Red Lantern<\/li>\n<li>Rory O&#8217;Shea Was Here<\/li>\n<li>The 40-Year-Old Virgin<\/li>\n<li>Sideways<\/li>\n<li>Empire of the Sun<\/li>\n<li>Napoleon Dynamite<\/li>\n<li>The Quiet American<\/li>\n<li>The Chorus<\/li>\n<li>The Third Man<\/li>\n<li>Barton Fink<\/li>\n<li>The Garden of the Finzi-Continis<\/li>\n<li>Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room<\/li>\n<li>Russian Dolls<\/li>\n<li>Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World<\/li>\n<li>They Drive by Night<\/li>\n<li>An Inconvenient Truth<\/li>\n<li>Croupier<\/li>\n<li>The Last Kiss<\/li>\n<li>Little Miss Sunshine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My favorite of the year was probably <em>The Third Man<\/em>. The Enron and Al Gore documentaries were thoroughly compelling. I&#8217;m sorry to say that I liked <em>Master and Commander<\/em> more the first time I saw it, before I had read any of the books, although it was still completely enjoyable. And I&#8217;m also sorry to say that I pretty much missed the charm of <em>Little Miss Sunshine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Probably watched more TV on DVD than movies, and most of that British.<\/p>\n<p>Series of made-for-TV movies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Horatio Hornblower<\/li>\n<li>Sharpe Series<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Classic books made into mini-series:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pride and Prejudice (1980 Fay Weldon version)<\/li>\n<li>The Barchester Chronicles<\/li>\n<li>The Forsyte Saga (1960s version)(Creepy. Didn&#8217;t finish.)<\/li>\n<li>The Forsyte Saga (1990s version)(Boring. Didn&#8217;t finish.)<\/li>\n<li>Daniel Deronda<\/li>\n<li>Middlemarch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>British television series proper:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Creatures Great and Small (First three seasons)<\/li>\n<li>Good Neighbors<\/li>\n<li>Inspector Morse (May belong in series of movies category. Watched like five of them.)<\/li>\n<li>Prime Suspect (Same as <em>Morse<\/em> re: series of movies. Watched three.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>American television series proper that we only watched a couple of episodes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Office<\/li>\n<li>Veronica Mars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>American television series proper that we watched all episodes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wonderfalls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dawn thinks Ioan Griffud is yummy. I don&#8217;t think we saw enough Audrey Tautou this year. Best discovery was <em>Prime Suspect<\/em>.
