New proposed method

1. Cut 24″ length from 2×4 for stem blank
2. Set blade tilted left at 20.5°, fence on right side
3. Cut stem blank to opposite top corner

4. Reverse piece, pitching 180°
5. Cut to 3/16″ of peak

6. Resulting stem piece is similar to Beede’s. Not quite so jaunty, though.

But! The above measurements of Beede’s stem are made from SketchUp, where cuts are perfect, accounting for no saw kerf at all.

The measure across the top is only 1/16″ across when accounting for 1/8″ saw kerf.
